Ayanna
The newest singing singing sensation, to hit the music
scene is singer-songwriter
simply known
as Ayanna. She has been fine-tuning her craft over the past
several
years; not only a gifted songwriter, but a talented singer who now takes center
stage with her debut CD release titled "Girl Talk" which has sold
over 77,000 units in the streets of the Dirty South. Her first single "Ooh
Wee" has been on the Billboard R & B singles chart for over 27 weeks
and peaked at #1., The single was getting over 100 mediabase radio spins weekly
in several breakout markets across the Southeast.
What makes Ayanna so unique is that she's in the streets
grinding with her
street team
in every city, town and hood from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina
and everywhere in-between. "We've sold in places like Macon,
Brunswick,
Valdosta, Warner Robbins, Tifton, Albany, Jesup and Savannah,
GA", she
explains.

Her musical
journey goes back to the Duke Ellington School of Performing
Arts in
Washington, DC where she was a music major who studied music
theory,
piano, trombone, jazz theory and Band. Her musical influences range
from the late
Donny Hathaway, Patti LaBelle, and Aretha Franklin to Sam
Cooke and
Lauryn Hill.
Blessed with
talent and determination, the road for Ayanna has not always
been smooth.
"We came to the ATL in 2002 to make it in the music biz, then
went back to
NYC, lived in hotels and ended in a homeless shelter for 8
months"
says Ayanna's manager/business partner Marvin Walker, CEO of
Elese
Entertainment. After a few big songwriting credits, they returned to the
ATL in 2004
to set up shop permanently. "There was a sense of urgency that
motivated the
growth of the business", she explains.
What has made "Girl Talk" connect with music
consumers is that it's good quality and relatable music. Standout songs
include, "Numbers in Ya Pocket", "Best Friends Man", "Maybe"
and the Billboard charted first single "Ooh Wee". "Everyone can
relate to my music; …mothers - daughters, boyfriends- girlfriends, different
generations", Ayanna smiles. Undoubtably, Ayanna has an impressive
catalogue of songs that range from gospel to country and all other genres in
between. No doubt, the world will be hearing more from singer, songwriter,
"songstress"
